Broussard, LA: For more than two decades, the communities throughout Acadiana and southwest Louisiana have cherished and grown with the zoo. Today, we’re here to announce our exciting new name.
From humble beginnings as a small menagerie in the early 1990s to today’s accredited zoological park, the Zoo of Acadiana continues to proudly connect guests to the natural world through a strong commitment to education, conservation, and up close & personal, pure excitement.
As we embark on our third decade, we want to celebrate with a name that embodies all that we are. We are family-focused, ecologically diverse, and we are Louisiana-proud. We showcase the heritage of Acadiana and of our entire state. As part of the number one city in America for economic growth and development, we want the zoo to be one of the reasons that people visit our great Louisiana. We could not be more proud to welcome you to Zoosiana: Zoo of Acadiana!
With its climate, terrain and vegetation, southwest Louisiana is a unique location for a zoological park. Over 750 animals from more than 130 species from all around the globe call Zoosiana home. Zoosiana’s commitment to conservation through the breeding and preservation of endangered species has fostered a true sense of pride in the hearts of our guests and area residents.
As an accredited institution of the Zoological Association of America, Zoosiana provides first-class care and attention to each animal. This is all made possible by Zoosiana’s incredible staff of 25 people, all of whom are focused on bringing a personal approach to all aspects of Zoosiana, from community involvement to animal care and guest interactions. But at the end of the day, we could not do any of this without the incredible support of the people of Acadiana and southwest Louisiana. It is with the greatest pride and excitement that we say: Welcome to Zoosiana: Zoo of Acadiana!
